This domain is about the use of urban land and open space. It is concerned with the issue of urban sprawl and the demand for land for further growth and development. It covers changes in the uses of land and optimum use of it (above and beneath the ground), including rehabilitation of contaminated sites. As such, it is affected by large changes in demographic characteristics, levels of population and shifts in economic focus.
